The Experience Rate

One dial, not two — doubling XP covers summons for free, because there's only ever been one place XP is actually granted

Every skill's experience gain in Blister Online runs through a single global multiplier — as of 2026-09-03, that multiplier doubled, at a direct operator request to "double all XP gain, including from summons." It applies the instant XP is granted rather than changing anything already stored, so every existing character keeps every level they already have; only future gains come in faster.

Restoring, not inventing, a rate

This isn't a new number — it's the exact pre-existing rate from before an earlier balance pass, reverted specifically and only for XP. That earlier pass had cut four things together in one package, at the operator's own request at the time: mob coin drops to 1%, player-dealt damage to 10%, found cash to 50%, and XP gain to 50%. Only the XP quarter of that package has been reverted here — the other three (the coin roll, the damage cut, and the cash cut) all remain exactly as they were, because doubling XP was specifically what was asked for this time and nothing more.

Why "including from summons" needed no separate work

There's exactly one line in the entire game that actually writes experience to a skill — every single source of XP, without exception, funnels through it, including the share of damage a summoned pet deals on the player's behalf. That meant covering summons in the same request wasn't a second change to make; the one multiplier already applied everywhere XP could possibly come from.

What it means for pacing

Using the game's own worked example — a sustained gathering action training a skill from level 1 — the first level now takes roughly 21 seconds instead of about 42, and levels through the twenties run roughly 54 to 103 seconds each instead of 108 to 206. The underlying XP curve per level hasn't changed at all; only how quickly a fixed action fills it has. That figure assumes you're actually at the keyboard, though — the AFK Taper slows gathering itself down the longer you've gone without real input, all the way to a 10% floor.

One asymmetry is worth knowing: combat XP does not return to its old pre-cut pace the way gathering XP does, even though both are doubled by the same multiplier. Combat XP is paid per point of damage actually landed, and the player still only lands a tenth of their nominal damage under the separate, untouched damage cut mentioned above — so combat leveling stays comparatively slower than gathering leveling, as a side effect of that other dial rather than of this one.

Zooming out from a single level to a whole run, the doubling has a clean, simple effect: it halves the playtime needed to reach every major Total Level gate in the game, measured at a casual pace of roughly 40,000 XP an hour. Three of these — Vulcanis, Kryon, and Aurelis — are currently switched off as travel destinations, so the level requirement below is a pacing benchmark rather than something you can act on immediately:

THE BARROW (LV 120)
0.8h → 0.4h
VULCANIS (LV 500)
93.7h → 46.8h
KRYON (LV 700)
248.8h → 124.4h
AURELIS (LV 850)
412.9h → 206.5h

At the casual rate, reaching Aurelis went from roughly seventeen real-world days of nonstop play to roughly eight and a half — the same halving applies at every pace, so a more dedicated "optimised" player sees Aurelis drop from about 41 hours to about 21 rather than a different ratio.

There's no level 99 — the ladder keeps going to 1,201

Skill levels in Blister Online don't stop at the traditional 99. According to the development log, walking the actual experience curve directly shows level 99 needs 881,696 experience — a real milestone, but only about a fifth of the way up a ladder that keeps climbing all the way to level 1,201, which needs on the order of 1015 experience and is the genuine, hard ceiling: the curve goes flat from that point onward rather than continuing to demand more. For comparison, level 946 alone already needs roughly 1012 experience — the gap between 99 and the real cap isn't a small extension, it's most of the game's actual skill progression happening above the number most players would assume is the top.

History

  • XP gain doubled, restoring exactly the XP portion of an earlier four-part economy cut while deliberately leaving the other three parts of that same cut in place.

Trivia

  • The Legend capstone's own permanent +2% all-skill XP bonus, and any other bonus like it, simply stacks on top of this global rate rather than being affected by it in any special way — they're separate multipliers applied at the same single point XP is granted.
  • Combat XP has a small rounding quirk internally: the formula that converts damage dealt into experience can land on a fraction — 100 damage works out to 27.5 XP by the raw formula — but the amount actually credited to your skill is always rounded to the nearest whole number, 28 in that case, so the true rate can be off from a quick mental estimate by up to half a point either way.
