System mechanic
Spawn table math
System mechanic · documented from build 1327 data
Creatures do not spawn from a global pool. Each region carries its own table, and every creature on that table occupies a numbered slot. 335 of the 511 creatures in build 1327 sit in an explicit slot; the rest appear on the general wilderness roll, weighted by whichever biome you are standing in.
Two different numbers govern how often a slot fills:
- Spawn share
- An ordinary creature's proportion of rolls on its table. Shares on a table are relative to each other — a 0.25 share means one in four spawns from that table is this creature.
- Spawn chance
- A flat per-roll probability, used for unique bosses. A 0.005 spawn chance means each roll has a 0.5% chance of producing that boss — and the roll is skipped entirely while an instance is already alive.
- REGIONS
- 124
- SLOTTED CREATURES
- 335
- WILDERNESS ROLLS
- 67
- UNIQUE BOSSES
- 116
The one-instance rule is what makes boss farming slow. A 0.5% chance per roll is not the practical rate — the effective rate is that chance multiplied by the fraction of time the region is empty of that boss, which is why a guaranteed boss drop is still rare in practice. Items acquired this way are flagged on their own pages: see boss drops.
Regions with no roster at all are listed under regions without a spawn table — they exist in the world generator but roll nothing in this build.
